Carroll County Memorial Day Weekend DUI Checkpoints
The Maryland State Police and Carroll County Sheriff’s Office will conduct two Memorial Day Weekend DUI checkpoints on Friday and Saturday.
Memorial Day Weekend DUI Checkpoints
Along with law enforcement, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration will help conduct these Memorial Day Weekend DUI checkpoints.
DUI checkpoints are used to stop drunk drivers. They are commonly held around holiday weekends, as more people are out on the roads.
The first checkpoint will on Friday at Md. 140 at Bethel Road. The second checkpoint will be held on Saturday at an undisclosed location.
Police officers from Westminster, Hampstead, Manchester and Taneytown will assist with the checkpoints.
Sobriety checkpoints are legal in Maryland. In the courts have identified criteria to determine the constitutionality of Maryland DUI checkpoints:
