The maximum penalty for driving under the influence (DUI) in Maryland is 1 year incarceration and/or a $1,000.00 fine.
DUI Per Se
The maximum penalty for driving under the influence per se (DUI per se) in Maryland is 1 year incarceration and/or a $1,000.00 fine.
How much will I actually pay in fines for my DUI arrest?
The above listed fines are the maximum penalties. In our experience, clients facing their first DUI arrest pay fines totaling a couple hundred dollars. In fact, we have even had clients that paid no fines, just the court costs.
The average fine we see associated with a guilty finding to a DUI is somewhere between $100.00 – $500.00. This does not include the court costs which are usually less than $100.00.
Remember, every case is different, and every judge is different. Some judges believe in hefty fines, others do not.
