America’s Most Congested Cities
Recently, Statista crunched the numbers to come up with America’s top 10 most congested cities. The Washington DC area ranked sixth!
Greater Washington Area Sixth Most Congested City
It probably comes as no surprise that Washington DC is one of the most congested cities in America. In fact, the entire greater Washington area is completely congested with automobiles. This area includes Carroll County, Howard County, and Frederick County. Bumper to bumper traffic congests the roads and leads to a higher chance of car accident.
With some many cars on the roads, it’s almost impossible to go a mile or two without seeing a car wreck.
But, at least we’re not Los Angeles. An analysis conducted by INRIX found that out of all major cities worldwide, Los Angeles has the worst levels of congestion with drivers losing 102 hours to traffic jams every year.
Los Angeles, like the greater Washington DC area, is a large, sprawling and densely packed urban area with an ineffective public transport system. In most places, there isn’t an alternative to driving your car from point A to point B.
Just this morning there was a serious car accident on Route 140 in Carroll County. This accident clogged the road and added a lot of time to ordinary people’s daily commute. Something has to be done to unclog our roads and protect our drivers from car accidents in Maryland.
