MD 97 driver airlifted after Carroll County car accident
A MD 97 driver was flown to an area hospital after a two-vehicle collision on Md. 97 near Silver Run Valley Road.
MD 97 driver injured in head-on collision
The two cars hit head-on. One driver who required extrication. The other vehicle was a van with five people sustaining minor injuries.
The airlifted driver was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma.
MD 97 was closed in both directions for a short period of time due to the crash.
The call for the crash came in at 11:56 a.m., with a Maryland State Police trooper arriving shortly after and a medic with Pleasant Valley responding at 12:10 p.m. The trooper called for the medevac helicopter.
In addition to Pleasant Valley, emergency first responders from Littlestown and Westminster fire companies assisted.
MD 97 is a dangerous two lane road traveling north-south through Carroll County, Maryland. Automobile speeds can reach over 50 mph on this winding country road. This road is especially dangerous at night due to limited visibility and the nature of the road.
